JJ’s Diner Maple Bacon

Maple syrup. Good. It understands its purpose. Sweet, but not theatrical. Candy bacon doesn’t need adjectives. It is bacon. The maple is simply showing respect. Coffee and vanilla. That’s a bold move. Coffee belongs in a mug. Vanilla belongs in ice cream. But if they’ve found a way to support bacon without distracting from it… I’ll allow it. It’s smoky. It’s sweet. It has depth. Like a well-built canoe. JJ’s Diner understands something most people don’t: if you combine strong flavors, you better mean it. This isn’t a garnish. It’s a commitment. I would eat this in the woods. Alone. And be satisfied.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place bacon strips on top. Brush Syrup Chug Sauce on both sides of the bacon.

  3. Cook bacon in the oven, re-glazing and turning the bacon every 6-8 minutes, about 20 minutes total cook time or until bacon has rendered out its fat and has begun to crisp.

  4. Remove bacon from oven, re-glaze, and sprinkle the brown sugar on each side. Allow to cool for 5 minutes for the glaze to thicken.

  5. Serve.
