How Do You Like Them Apples
So what is this, huh? An apple tryin’ to reinvent itself? You got spice apples, which, let’s be honest, is just cinnamon and nutmeg with a marketing degree, then caramel drippin’ down like it’s showin’ off. Vanilla whipped topping’s the safe play. It’s Switzerland. Doesn’t bother anybody. Alright. That’s… actually solid. The apples are warm, soft, not mushy. Caramel’s sweet but not obnoxious. And then you get that bacon, maple, salty, cuts through the whole thing like it’s the only honest guy in the room. See, everybody thinks dessert’s gotta pick a side. Sweet or savory. This thing doesn’t care. It just figures out the math and makes it work. It’s not fancy. It just sounds fancy. Big difference.
Ingredients
for one sundae
1 granny smith apple
1 tbs bacon fat
1 tbs Cookie Spice
1/4 cup apple cider
2 tbs dark brown sugar
1 tbs milk
2 tbs caramel bites
1 scoop Cool Hwhip
1 strip JJ’s Diner Maple Bacon
Directions
Peel and core the apple and slice into strips. In a large skillet pan melt the bacon fat over medium heat and fry the apple slices with the Cookie Spice until soft. Add the brown sugar and apple cider, toss the apples to coat and simmer until the sauce begins to thicken and get bubbly. Remove from heat.
In a microwave, heat the caramel bites and milk in a small bowl in 20 second intervals until the caramel is melted with no lumps.
Put your spiced caramel apples in a serving bowl, top with scoop of Cool Hwhip, melted caramel, and then with the diced Maple Bacon.
Serve.
